Utah @ Oregon State

7-21
Not many family members could come to the Oregon game this week.  Tyler
hung out with his Uncles most of his time.  I hung out with Helen, my travel buddy.

Arriving at the Stadium
It was a rough game to watch.  Many chances and many mistakes.  Rained all through the 2nd half.
Helen and I came prepared though, of course.  We cheered our little hearts out but we were
in this back corner of the stadium and all the other red was in a section way behind us, I don't think
anyone heard us yell.   That did not stop us from trying.

Candy Bar Day

Since Kyle has been the head coach at Utah I have bought candy bars to bring up to the football players, trainers, coaches, and equipment managers.  I always do it 2 days before the game, so for Saturday games it is Thursday right after practice.  I try to remember who likes what so that they always have their favorite treat.  Sometimes they have to dig for it.  Sometimes they just look at the selection and don't know what to pick.  It is one of my favorite days of the week!

At the grocery store when I am making my purchases, the people at the checkout always ask how am I going to eat all that candy, or that they wished they lived at my house.  Little kids will point at me and say "mom, look at that lady".

You might be a Coach's Wife if...........

You might be a coach's wife if................ everyone in town knows about your husbands job, how much money he makes, they talk about him on the radio, write about him in the paper, critique his work, his weight, and his looks.  And they give a weekly report on how he is doing that they can talk, and talk about, usually with someone who has no idea how to do said job themselves.

You might be a Coach's daughter if...............Your friends at school make you want to punch them in the face!  And when you do slap them, the teacher tells them they deserved that one.

Utah @ UCLA

14-21
The time between games just seems to fly by each week.  Sunday's and Monday's
are late nights at the office for the coaches. They put in so many hours a week.
On Monday's at noon Kyle does his weekly post game press conference.
Then on Wednesday nights at 6 pm I go with Kyle to his radio show for an hour.
ESPN700 AM Radio Show
On Thursdays at the end of practice I bring the players and coaches candy bars.
Melissa came with me to the game this week in Pasadena.
Team warming up in the Rose Bowl.  Beautiful sunny day.

The game can take a lot out of you.  Tyler crashing on the plane ride home.
The team charter plane going home.  All is quiet.
Another hard week with the loss to UCLA.  Everyone played hard and coached hard.
This next week we go to Oregon to play Oregon State.

Deep Thoughts

Live A Life That Matters

Ready or not, some day it will all come to an end.
There will be no more sunrises, no minutes, hours or
days.

All the things you collected, whether treasured or
forgotten, will pass to someone else.

Your wealth, fame and temporal power will shrivel to
irrelevance. It will not matter what you owned or what
you were owed.

Your grudges, resentments, frustrations, and
jealousies will finally disappear. So, too, your
hopes, ambitions, plans, and to-do lists will expire.

The wins and losses that once seemed so important will
fade away.

It won't matter where you came from, or on what side
of the tracks you lived, at the end. It won't matter
whether you were beautiful or brilliant. Even your
gender and skin color will be irrelevant.

So what will matter? How will the value of your days
be measured?

What will matter is not what you bought, but what you
built; not what you got, but what you gave.

What will matter is not your success, but your
significance.

What will matter is not what you learned, but what you
taught.

What will matter is every act of integrity,
compassion, courage or sacrifice that enriched,
empowered or encouraged others to emulate your
example.

What will matter is not your competence, but your
character.

What will matter is not how many people you knew, but
how many will feel a lasting loss when you're gone.

What will matter is not your memories, but the
memories that live in those who loved you.

What will matter is how long you will be remembered,
by whom and for what.

Living a life that matters doesn't happen by accident.
It's not a matter of circumstance but of choice.

Choose to live a life that matters.

Utah vs USC

28-38
I knew playing USC was going to be challenging.  They have a great history and are a
tough team.  We were just coming off our loss to Arizona State. We had a bye week so the
players had some time to rest and had good practices during the week.
It was a beautiful evening and 70 degrees at game time.  It was a sold out stadium and the fans
were great!

I don't like losing football games.  The team played hard, I am proud of the coaches and players. They showed how tough they are and played a good game against a great team.
